Tripp Sport in Aix-Noulette: much more than a running, trail and triathlon store

Discover Tripp Sport in Aix-Noulette: an independent specialist in running, trail running, triathlon, swimming and gait analysis, led by Matthieu Demey and a passionate team.

Tripp Sport in Aix-Noulette, specialist store for running, trail running, triathlon and gait analysis

At Tripp Sport, sport is about much more than selling a pair of shoes, a triathlon wetsuit or a few accessories. Behind the Aix-Noulette store is an independent business, a close-knit team and a simple philosophy: take the time to understand each athlete before recommending equipment.

Founded in 2014, Tripp Sport has gradually built its expertise around running, trail running, triathlon, swimming and endurance sports. Today the store welcomes complete beginners, marathon runners, trail runners, triathletes, walkers and anyone simply looking for comfortable footwear suited to their body and activity.

An adventure that began in 2014

The story started in 2014 when Matthieu Demey travelled across France setting up stands at sporting events. Those first years allowed him to meet athletes, understand their needs and build a project centred on sport, advice and people.

In 2015, Matthieu earned a qualification in sports biomechanics, a decisive step in the development of Tripp Sport’s expertise in movement, gait and footwear selection. In 2016, TrippSport.fr was launched, bringing the first running, triathlon and swimming products online.

In 2017, the first Tripp Sport store opened in Liévin. The physical shop quickly became the heart of the business, with a growing loyal customer base and a strong focus on fitting and personalised advice.

Matthieu Demey, founder and manager

Matthieu is first and foremost an endurance-sport enthusiast. Triathlons, Ironman events, marathons, ultra-trails and swimming are all part of his sporting background. He discovered triathlon at EC Sartrouville and now continues the sport with Triathlon Club de Liévin.

His own experience directly shapes the store’s philosophy. The aim is not to sell the most expensive or most popular shoe, but to identify a solution that makes sense for the athlete’s level, habits, sensations and goals.

In a small independent company, the manager remains involved in everyday operations: range selection, brand relationships, purchasing, store management, advice, gait analysis, website development, communication, events, logistics and after-sales support. This direct involvement keeps the relationship between customers, staff and business decisions particularly short.

A small, human-scale team

Tripp Sport has grown while keeping one clear objective: staying close to athletes. The team is involved in customer service, advice, order preparation, deliveries, wetsuit rentals, events and day-to-day store operations.

Alexandre: footwear expertise and gait analysis

Alexandre joined Tripp Sport in 2024. After more than fifteen years playing football at R1 level, he brought strong sporting experience and specialist knowledge of running shoes. He carries out gait-analysis appointments and assists Matthieu with the day-to-day management of the shop.

Gautier: retail, marketing and communication

Gautier joined in 2025 as a retail and marketing apprentice. A basketball player and lifelong sports enthusiast, he contributes to the website, communication and customer support in store. His arrival brings a modern perspective to the way Tripp Sport presents its expertise and communicates with athletes.

2025: a new store in Aix-Noulette

In 2025, Tripp Sport reached another milestone with the opening of its new store at 30 rue de Boyeffles, 62160 Aix-Noulette, close to Lens, Liévin, Béthune and Arras. The larger, more modern space allows the team to display more products and provide better conditions for fittings and advice.

Gait analysis: a key Tripp Sport speciality

One of the store’s signature services is video treadmill gait analysis. Its purpose is not to permanently label a runner as “pronating”, “neutral” or “supinating”, but to collect useful information about movement and help guide footwear selection.

The appointment takes into account training habits, goals, previous shoes, sensations, foot morphology, posture, pressure patterns, running surfaces and treadmill observations. Several shoe models can then be tested to compare cushioning, stability, heel-to-toe drop, geometry, width and responsiveness.

At Tripp Sport, no single technical specification is considered sufficient to determine the right shoe. The final decision is based on the complete picture and, above all, on the athlete’s own sensations.

Why are gait analyses appointment-based?

A meaningful analysis takes time. Appointments prevent an important footwear decision from being squeezed into a few minutes between customers. Each time slot can include discussion, observation, measurements, treadmill running, video, shoe comparisons and the final selection.

This organisation reflects the store’s philosophy: take time before selling.

More than 190 running and trail shoe references

Footwear is one of Tripp Sport’s main areas of expertise. The store offers more than 190 running and trail shoe references, covering very different concepts: maximal or firmer cushioning, lightweight or protective models, stability solutions, rockered geometries, different drops, fits and trail outsoles.

Brands regularly represented include Brooks, Saucony, Mizuno, New Balance, Hoka, On Running, Scott and other specialists. The purpose of this variety is to compare solutions rather than trying to fit every athlete into the same model.

Running: from beginners to experienced athletes

You do not need to be chasing a sub-three-hour marathon to receive specialist advice. Some customers are taking their first steps in running, others are preparing for a 10K, half marathon or marathon, while others have trained several times a week for years.

The store’s role is to identify each athlete’s priorities: comfort, cushioning, stability, lightness, responsiveness, durability or versatility.

Trail running: choosing for the terrain

Trail running adds another level of complexity. A shoe for fast, dry trails is not the same as a model designed for mud, technical terrain or ultra distances. Selection depends on distance, elevation, grip, weather, protection and the runner’s own profile.

In northern France, wet and muddy conditions are part of everyday trail running, so local experience is particularly useful when choosing outsole and protection levels.

Triathlon and swimming: part of Tripp Sport’s DNA

Triathlon has played an important role in Tripp Sport’s identity from the beginning. The store offers swimming and triathlon equipment and has developed particular expertise in neoprene wetsuits.

Wetsuit rental

For a first triathlon or occasional use, purchasing a wetsuit can be a significant investment. Tripp Sport therefore offers a wetsuit rental service: customers choose their size and dates and collect a wetsuit prepared by the store. Renting is also a useful way to test a wetsuit before considering a purchase.

Sports nutrition and accessories

The shop also carries endurance-sport nutrition and accessories including gels, drinks, energy products, hydration solutions and equipment for running, trail running, swimming and triathlon.

The physical store and TrippSport.fr: complementary experiences

The internet makes it easy to compare prices and technical specifications, but one thing remains difficult to communicate through a screen: feel. Two shoes with very similar specifications can feel completely different when worn.

The physical store therefore focuses on trying and comparing products, while TrippSport.fr allows customers to access products, new releases, promotions and Tripp Sport advice online.

A blog designed to explain, not just sell

The Tripp Sport blog covers running, footwear, biomechanics, heel-to-toe drop, cushioning, stability and gait analysis. The aim is to provide useful information and, when relevant, compare marketing claims with available scientific evidence.

An independent company serving athletes

An independent store cannot compete with national chains or global platforms on size alone. Its strength lies elsewhere: product knowledge, proximity, customer feedback and the ability to adapt the range quickly.

Over time, many customers return for another pair of shoes, a trail race, a marathon or a triathlon. Their feedback after hundreds of kilometres also contributes to the experience used in future recommendations.

More than 15,000 athletes fitted

Since the beginning of the adventure, Tripp Sport reports having fitted more than 15,000 people. That represents thousands of different profiles, conversations, fittings and real-world experiences that have helped build the store’s expertise.

Why visit Tripp Sport?

Thousands of websites can sell a pair of running shoes. A specialist store offers something different: the ability to try, compare, ask questions, analyse gait when appropriate and talk to people who work with these products every day.

The best shoe is not necessarily the most expensive, the newest or the model worn by a champion. It is the shoe that makes sense for the person who is actually going to run in it.

Tripp Sport: the foot is the foundation

Since 2014, Tripp Sport has changed in size, location and organisation, but its objective remains the same: help each athlete choose equipment that suits their activity and goals.

Whether you are preparing for your first 5K, a marathon, a trail race, a triathlon or simply your next run, Matthieu, Alexandre, Gautier and the whole Tripp Sport team welcome you in Aix-Noulette.
