Understanding the different types of shoes:

Not all shoes are the same: each terrain requires a different sole, grip and level of stability.

  • Road shoes are designed for hard, regular surfaces: asphalt, pavements, compacted paths.
  • Trail shoes are made for natural, uneven terrain: mud, rocks, roots and descents.
  • Gravel shoes bridge the gap between road and trail and are versatile for trails and routes with little technical difficulty.

"No technical criterion — drop, stack, cushioning, weight or stability — can on its own determine the right shoe for a runner. "
